35 jobs have been generated through self-employment loans in North and Middle Andaman. 50.2% of jobs overall are self-employment, better than the typical district. The D-JAY(S) Urban Livelihoods unit works this ground, helping urban youth set up and sustain small enterprises.
79% of registered enterprises are in services while 21% are in manufacturing. Only 1% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 67% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In North and Middle Andaman, which ranks 2 of 3 in Andaman and Nicobar Island for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 49.3 out of 100. On women-owned enterprises at 26.4%, it sits close to the national mark. The district has 2,279 registered service enterprises.
