South Andaman trains 305.6 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, better than the typical district. 38.3% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, behind the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
84% of registered enterprises are in services while 16% are in manufacturing. Only 5% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 76% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In South Andaman, which ranks 1 of 3 in Andaman and Nicobar Island for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 54.9 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on women in the labour force at 55.4%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 96.5%, it sits close to the national mark.
