80% of registered enterprises are in services while 20% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 54% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 40% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Palnadu, which ranks 24 of 27 in Andhra Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 44.5 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on self-employed workers at 37.4%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 94%, women-owned enterprises at 30.2% and young people in the labour force aged 15 to 29 at 47.8%, it sits close to the national mark.
