75% of registered enterprises are in services while 25% are in manufacturing. Only 9% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 78% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In West Godavari, which ranks 18 of 27 in Andhra Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 45.8 out of 100. On women-owned enterprises at 19%, it sits close to the national mark. The district has 84,249 registered service enterprises.
