The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
67% of registered enterprises are in services while 33% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 61% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Chirang, which ranks 18 of 35 in Assam for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 45.1 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 35.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 98.6%, it sits close to the national mark.
