Golaghat trains 266.5 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, close to the typical district. 25.3% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, better than the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
70% of registered enterprises are in services while 30% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 47% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Golaghat, which ranks 10 of 35 in Assam for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 46.7 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 93.5% and women in the labour force at 52.6%, it sits close to the national mark.
