The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
81% of registered enterprises are in services while 19% are in manufacturing. Only 14% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 68% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 44% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Kamrup Metropolitan, which ranks 1 of 35 in Assam for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 60.6 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 39.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.4%, it sits close to the national mark.
