The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
71% of registered enterprises are in services while 29% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 49% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 18% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Nagaon, which ranks 27 of 35 in Assam for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 43.1 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 36.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 97.2%, it sits close to the national mark.
