74% of registered enterprises are in services while 26% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 57% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Jamui, which ranks 32 of 38 in Bihar for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 39.9 out of 100. On women-owned enterprises at 23.2%, it sits close to the national mark. The district has 21,245 registered service enterprises.
