75% of registered enterprises are in services while 25% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 60% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 10% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Nalanda, which ranks 2 of 38 in Bihar for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 46.5 out of 100. It trails the national picture on ITI seats in government institutes at 8.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.4%, it sits close to the national mark.
