Nalanda has 1,727.7 ITI seats per lakh youth, better than the typical district. Of these, 8.6% sit in government institutes, behind the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
75% of registered enterprises are in services while 25% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 60% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 10% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Nalanda, which ranks 2 of 38 in Bihar for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 46.5 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 320.8, while it lags on apprentices per lakh youth at 60.8.
