Nawada trains 170.7 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, behind the typical district. 29.5% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, better than the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
72% of registered enterprises are in services while 28% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 51% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 13% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Nawada, which ranks 18 of 38 in Bihar for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 42.3 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 19.9%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 88.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
