Bastar has 475.2 ITI seats per lakh youth, behind the typical district. Of these, 86.7% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
84% of registered enterprises are in services while 16% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 53% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 36% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Bastar, which ranks 16 of 33 in Chhattisgarh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 44.1 out of 100. It trails the national picture on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 218.5 and apprentices per lakh youth at 112.6.
