The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
82% of registered enterprises are in services while 18% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 35% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 60% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Sukma, which ranks 28 of 33 in Chhattisgarh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 41.2 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on women in the labour force at 68.4%, while it lags on skilling trainees who get certified at 82.4%.
