84% of registered enterprises are in services while 16% are in manufacturing. Only 7% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Higher secondary enrollment (classes 9–12) is 108%, likely reflecting students enrolling from neighbouring areas. Only 36% of ITI trainers are certified.
In South Goa, which ranks 2 of 2 in Goa for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 62.9 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on secondary school enrolment in classes 9 to 12 at 82.9%, while it lags on youth unemployment aged 15 to 29 at 14.8%. On class 9 pupils at grade level in maths at 38%, it sits close to the national mark.
