71% of registered enterprises are in services while 29% are in manufacturing. Only 9% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 43% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 25% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Bhavnagar, which ranks 19 of 33 in Gujarat for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 47.2 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 97.8% and women in the labour force at 46.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
