78% of registered enterprises are in services while 22% are in manufacturing. Only 13% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 44% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 11% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Kachchh, which ranks 15 of 33 in Gujarat for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 48.3 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on ITI seats in government institutes at 93.4%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
