78% of registered enterprises are in services while 22% are in manufacturing. Only 13% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 44% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 11% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Kachchh, which ranks 15 of 33 in Gujarat for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 48.3 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on self-employed workers at 50.9%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.3%, women-owned enterprises at 36.5% and young people in the labour force aged 15 to 29 at 43.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
