Kangra has 2,782.2 ITI seats per lakh youth, better than the typical district. Of these, 55.7% sit in government institutes, close to the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
84% of registered enterprises are in services while 16% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 75% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 42% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Kangra, which ranks 8 of 12 in Himachal Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 54.6 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 578 and apprentices per lakh youth at 478.2.
