Lahaul and Spiti has 3,989.5 ITI seats per lakh youth, better than the typical district. Of these, 100% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
88% of registered enterprises are in services while 12% are in manufacturing. Only 1% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 42% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 50% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Lahaul and Spiti, which ranks 11 of 12 in Himachal Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.7 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on apprentices per lakh youth at 620.3, while it lags on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 224.9.
