Bokaro has 842.6 ITI seats per lakh youth, better than the typical district. Of these, 18.1% sit in government institutes, behind the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
80% of registered enterprises are in services while 20% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 56% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 6% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Bokaro, which ranks 7 of 24 in Jharkhand for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 48.2 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on apprentices per lakh youth at 497, while it lags on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 176.2.
