Chatra has 233.8 ITI seats per lakh youth, behind the typical district. Of these, 39.4% sit in government institutes, behind the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
80% of registered enterprises are in services while 20% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 55% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
