Gumla has 357.9 ITI seats per lakh youth, behind the typical district. Of these, 83% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
82% of registered enterprises are in services while 18% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 46% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 10% of ITI trainers are certified.
