The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
77% of registered enterprises are in services while 23% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 52% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 13% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Jamtara, which ranks 23 of 24 in Jharkhand for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 42.1 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 38.9%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 89.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
