Ranchi trains 149.6 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, behind the typical district. 26% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, better than the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
83% of registered enterprises are in services while 17% are in manufacturing. Only 6% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 63% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 14% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Ranchi, which ranks 2 of 24 in Jharkhand for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 54.7 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 39.9%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.6%, it sits close to the national mark.
