Simdega has 288.5 ITI seats per lakh youth, behind the typical district. Of these, 93.2% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
84% of registered enterprises are in services while 16% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 50% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 22% of ITI trainers are certified.
