Kargil has 938.6 ITI seats per lakh youth, better than the typical district. The district supports 149.3 apprenticeships per lakh youth, behind the typical district. The Government ITI is the main public channel from classroom to trade.
72% of registered enterprises are in services while 28% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 64% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Kargil, which ranks 2 of 2 in Ladakh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.2 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on ITI seats in government institutes at 100%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 97.4%, it sits close to the national mark.
