Kargil has 938.6 ITI seats per lakh youth, better than the typical district. Of these, 100% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
72% of registered enterprises are in services while 28% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 64% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Kargil, which ranks 2 of 2 in Ladakh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.2 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 611.3, while it lags on apprentices per lakh youth at 149.3.
