The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
83% of registered enterprises are in services while 17% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 52% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 66% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Balaghat, which ranks 5 of 55 in Madhya Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 47.1 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.8% and women in the labour force at 52.6%, it sits close to the national mark.
