Dhar has 316.2 ITI seats per lakh youth, behind the typical district. Of these, 70.5% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
79% of registered enterprises are in services while 21% are in manufacturing. Only 6% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 43% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 46% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Dhar, which ranks 49 of 55 in Madhya Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 40.9 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 397.5 and apprentices per lakh youth at 3,518.
