80% of registered enterprises are in services while 20% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 55% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 60% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Sagar, which ranks 27 of 55 in Madhya Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 43.7 out of 100. The district runs ahead of the national picture on young people in the labour force aged 15 to 29 at 56%, while it lags on self-employed workers at 65.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 97.3% and women-owned enterprises at 43.6%, it sits close to the national mark.
