The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
83% of registered enterprises are in services while 17% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 41% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 65% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Shahdol, which ranks 30 of 55 in Madhya Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 43.1 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 94.3% and women in the labour force at 44.1%, it sits close to the national mark.
