Vidisha trains 1,011.3 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, better than the typical district. 38.4% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, behind the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
80% of registered enterprises are in services while 20% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 48% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 61% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Vidisha, which ranks 31 of 55 in Madhya Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 43 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 35.7%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
