78% of registered enterprises are in services while 22% are in manufacturing. Only 7% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 70% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 21% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Nagpur, which ranks 9 of 36 in Maharashtra for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 51.8 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 38.7%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 93.9%, it sits close to the national mark.
