The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
72% of registered enterprises are in services while 28% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 51% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 3% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Ratnagiri, which ranks 6 of 36 in Maharashtra for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.9 out of 100. It trails the national picture on skilling trainees who get certified at 61.5% and women in the labour force at 33.8%.
