82% of registered enterprises are in services while 18% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 81% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 39% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Aizawl, which ranks 2 of 11 in Mizoram for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 61.2 out of 100. It trails the national picture on young people in the labour force aged 15 to 29 at 24.9%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 94.4%, self-employed workers at 53.2% and women-owned enterprises at 52.4%, it sits close to the national mark.
