The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
71% of registered enterprises are in services while 29% are in manufacturing. Only 1% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 55% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Hnahthial, which ranks 10 of 11 in Mizoram for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.8 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 41.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 89.8%, it sits close to the national mark.
