Mamit trains 220.5 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, behind the typical district. 3.3% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, better than the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
76% of registered enterprises are in services while 24% are in manufacturing. Only 1% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 35% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Mamit, which ranks 4 of 11 in Mizoram for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 59.2 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 41.6%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 100%, it sits close to the national mark.
