Jaisalmer trains 410.1 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, better than the typical district. 50.5% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, behind the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
71% of registered enterprises are in services while 29% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 57% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). 73% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Jaisalmer, which ranks 24 of 41 in Rajasthan for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 46.4 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on women in the labour force at 55.1%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 92%, it sits close to the national mark.
