Khammam trains 21.7 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, behind the typical district. 19.2% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, better than the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
83% of registered enterprises are in services while 17% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 65% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 25% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Khammam, which ranks 13 of 33 in Telangana for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 47.6 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 100% and women in the labour force at 52.7%, it sits close to the national mark.
