South Tripura trains 487.9 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, better than the typical district. 40.7% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, behind the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
67% of registered enterprises are in services while 33% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 66% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In South Tripura, which ranks 6 of 8 in Tripura for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 43.5 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.2% and women in the labour force at 50.8%, it sits close to the national mark.
