79% of registered enterprises are in services while 21% are in manufacturing. Only 4% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 52% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 45% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Prayagraj, which ranks 35 of 75 in Uttar Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 44.3 out of 100. It trails the national picture on young people in the labour force aged 15 to 29 at 34.4%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.7%, self-employed workers at 61% and women-owned enterprises at 16.7%, it sits close to the national mark.
