81% of registered enterprises are in services while 19% are in manufacturing. Only 1% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 64% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 20% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Uttar Kashi, which ranks 12 of 13 in Uttarakhand for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 47.2 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on ITI seats in government institutes at 82.1%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 87.7%, it sits close to the national mark.
