81% of registered enterprises are in services while 19% are in manufacturing. Only 1% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 64% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 20% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Uttar Kashi, which ranks 12 of 13 in Uttarakhand for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 47.2 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 87.7%, self-employed workers at 54.3%, women-owned enterprises at 8.2% and young people in the labour force aged 15 to 29 at 46%, it sits close to the national mark.
