The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
81% of registered enterprises are in services while 19% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 63% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Jhargram, which ranks 20 of 23 in West Bengal for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 41.4 out of 100. On skilling trainees who get certified at 95.8% and women in the labour force at 44.7%, it sits close to the national mark.
