Nadia trains 95.8 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, behind the typical district. 31.9% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, close to the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
72% of registered enterprises are in services while 28% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 54% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 20% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Nadia, which ranks 9 of 23 in West Bengal for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 45.5 out of 100. It trails the national picture on women in the labour force at 41.2%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 98.3%, it sits close to the national mark.
