80% of registered enterprises are in services while 20% are in manufacturing. Only 2% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 54% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 40% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Palnadu, which ranks 24 of 27 in Andhra Pradesh for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 44.5 out of 100. It trails the national picture on apprentices per lakh youth at 29.7.
