Anantnag trains 1,407.2 youth per lakh under short-term skilling programmes, better than the typical district. 23.3% of young women aged 15 to 21 are out of education, better than the typical district. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan focuses non-formal skilling on dropouts and women who need a route back into livelihoods without returning to a classroom.
78% of registered enterprises are in services while 22% are in manufacturing. Only 3% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. Only 41% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 17% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Anantnag, which ranks 10 of 20 in Jammu and Kashmir for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 52.5 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on women in the labour force at 55.8%. On skilling trainees who get certified at 97.5%, it sits close to the national mark.
