Jammu has 261.6 ITI seats per lakh youth, behind the typical district. Of these, 100% sit in government institutes, better than the typical district. The Private ITI fills the remaining share of trade training capacity in the district.
87% of registered enterprises are in services while 13% are in manufacturing. Only 7% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 70% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12). Only 41% of ITI trainers are certified.
In Jammu, which ranks 7 of 20 in Jammu and Kashmir for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 54.1 out of 100. It runs ahead of the national picture on skilling enrolment per lakh youth at 625.3 and apprentices per lakh youth at 402.3.
