81% of registered enterprises are in services while 19% are in manufacturing. Only 8% of employment is in small and medium enterprises. 73% of school-age children are enrolled in higher secondary school (classes 9–12).
In Samba, which ranks 5 of 20 in Jammu and Kashmir for youth opportunity, the overall opportunity score is 54.3 out of 100. It trails the national picture on youth unemployment aged 15 to 29 at 15%. On secondary school enrolment in classes 9 to 12 at 72.9% and class 9 pupils at grade level in maths at 32%, it sits close to the national mark.
